Here is a documentary I made in the Amazon in 1992-1996 called ‘Amazon the Invisible People’ about Oil extraction problems and indigenous issues in Ecuador. Its sad to see that the Huaorani indigenous folk who featured in my doco are still fighting the government to keep them out of their land and last week were in court again
One group working with them atm is Amazon Frontline see. https://www.facebook.com/amazonfrontlines/
It seems like the new President of Ecuador is selling out on all levels. First he does a dirty deal with the USA and illegally rebukes Julian Assange Asylum status and kicks him out of their embassy in London for exposing his corruption in Wikileaks and now wants to continue invading indigenous peoples lands with the oil companies. I spent a year and a half living in Ecuador and made 2 documentaries there. Sad to see its still being ruled by the greedy oil companies and corrupt politicians. I hope this court case will help the Huaorani people who I lived and worked with. Maybe America said to the Ecuadorian President, you give us Julian and we will buy all of your oil.
